MAINTENANCE & FAQ'S
How Relative Humidity Affects Hardwood
Hardwood is carefully dried, retaining just enough moisture for the hardwood to properly acclimatize to
the relative humidity in your home. The flooring continues to exchange moisture with the air, shrinking and
expanding in response to changes in relative humidity.
Wood is a living material. It is susceptible to expansion in warm humid conditions and shrinkage in dry winter weather. Keeping your
home at a constant humidity level of about 40% - 50% is the key to preventing expansion and contraction.
Maintenance
Vacuum it regularly. Don’t use water or commercial soaps. Use floor care products recommended by hardwood
flooring specialists. Wipe all spills immediately and put protective pads under legs of heavy furniture to
avoid dents. Buff and re-coat floor when you notice signs of ware starting to appear.
Wood is Grown And Not Manufactured
Wood is natural and 'imperfections' such as knots and mineral deposits absorbed from the earth only enhance
the natural beauty of the wood. No two pieces of wood are the same.
